With the wig, I'm Sleeping Beauty/Princess Aurora:

Without it, I'm Ursula, the evil Sea Witch:

How have I never noticed how much I look like Ursula? Make-up, cheekbones, lipstick - evil grin! Good lord. (As [info]m_stiefvater just so kindly pointed out "she could lose 300 pounds and 6 tentacles and she'd be you!" Thanks, Maggie.)

5th-Aug-2009 04:34 pm - HEY EVERYBODY!
boom!
SHIVER, that book that I've been talking about and everybody's been talking about that my amazing crit partner [info]m_stiefvater wrote and that released on Saturday??!!

IT DEBUTS AT #9 ON THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER LIST!!!!!!!

YEAH! I KNOW!

I. KNOW.

*dies*

(did I spell everything right? my ability to type seems to have exploded.)
wolf whimsy
Today, this tops the list:

Which is a picture that [info]m_stiefvater just took of her pile of SHIVER that Scholastic sent her. Which officially is released on August 1st, but is shipping from Amazon right now. RIGHT NOW. And is also available at Barnes and Noble as well as many, many stores around the country.

OMGHOLYCRAPI'MGOINGTODIEORPASSOUTORMAYBEJUSTVOMITALITTLE.

Also, she's NUMBER 25 on the Amazon teen list. Basically the only thing in front of her is 22 different versions of Twilight, and a few other very popular vampire books. And Sarah Dessen. (And The Giving Tree, which seems very random.)

!!!!!

(Note from Tessa's brain: I am kind of surprised how overwhelmed I feel by this. I've been joking that I'll cry all over my copy because I remember when it was a fetus and I feel like a midwife or godmother or something... but I am starting to think that I really might. Must not go to bookstore alone in case I feel dizzy.)

MAGGIE YOU ARE THE BEST AND YOUR BOOK IS THE BEST AND... just whoa.

*glee*

***EDIT*** #24! She kicked a TWILIGHT COMPANION BOOK with RPatz on the cover!!

19th-Jun-2009 03:01 pm - Because sometimes I am uncool
burning calcifer and howl
I totally have neglected to freak out about this on my blog.

"Lexa Hillyer at Razorbill acquired the debut novel FE by Brenna Yovanoff at auction during BEA. The book tells the story of Malcolm Doyle, who seems like everyone else in his perfect little town, but he has a secret: he is a Replacement, left in the crib of a human baby 16 years ago. Now the dark side wants him back and he must decide where he really belongs. Pub date is fall 2010. Sarah Davies of the Greenhouse Literary Agency was the agent." - Publisher's Weekly newsletter.

Ignore the weird sounding blurb and focus on the name: BRENNA YOVANOFF. That's my critique partner and fellow fate at [info]merry_fates. Her debut book sold. In an awesome two book deal.

Also, the book itself? I've read it. Several times. I am so excited to see it on the shelves! It's gorgeously written in all shades of gray, with scary monsters living under slag heaps, wicked magic, taxidermized pixies kept in jars, music, hot kisses, and oh, did I mention the blood sacrifice? There's that, too. My favorite.

Yay Brenna! (known around these parts as [info]brennayovanoff. It's hard to remember, I know.)
